Five Things To Discuss During Your Interview

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

A job interview can be a stressful event. You're trying to remember what to talk about, and how to make sure the interviewer knows you're perfect for the job. What should you remember to mention? Here are some tips.

Your Skills:
Re-read your resume so all skills are fresh in your mind. Put an emphasis on the skill requirements of the interviewer and make sure they know you are capable of doing what is required. Some employers won't read the specifics of a resume, or will have missed or forgotten about it. Stressing your skills will help them remember why you should be hired.

Your Flexibility:
If you're flexible, let them know. If you can work late, can do overtime, or can work weekends or travel if you need to, tell them. Don't appear too eager because they may not have any need for you to work extra hours. But by letting them know of your availability, you present yourself as an attractive candidate.

Your Attitude:
Projecting a positive and professional attitude will leave a happy memory in the minds of your interviewers. A can-do approach to work is always welcomed by employers. Give yourself a pep-talk before you go in and tell them that you're a hard worker, you're cheery, and you'd enjoy working for them.

Your Willingness to Learn:
Since most jobs evolve over time, you want to showcase your willingness to learn new skills. Make sure you tell them about programs or tools you've learned and retained in your past jobs. They'll likely be impressed by your willingness to adapt and to learn new things. It shows a strong work ethic and talent.

Your Interviewer's Needs:
If you've got the skills they're looking for, tell them. If you fulfil the requirements of the job ad, make sure you stress how you fulfil them. Make sure your interviewer's needs and requirements are met. They want to know that the person they hire will be a perfect fit and will have everything it takes to do the job. By stress your skills and how you fulfil their particular needs, you're telling them to hire you.
It's important to bring forth some of your best qualities at a job interview. Your skills, your flexibility, and your ability and willingness to learn new things are usually key requirements in an interviewer's list of needs. By fulfilling these needs and telling them how you can do the job, you are projecting your capacity to do the job.

Responding the Right Way to Job Vacancies

By Mark Andrew Woodcock

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

In this dastardly economy it can take a lot to get noticed when you are in line for a job. Simply put, work is scarce and competition is fierce. There are certain things that you can do when responding to job vacancies however, to get yourself noticed.
Your obvious in is your resume. Even though dollars may be a little tight, reworking your budget to afford professional resume services may be well worth the hassle. With the right eye you can whittle down the presentation of your skill and experience to a tight, all-encompassing description of you that will not only impress, but will continually find its way to the top of the pile.
Your resume is where you give your first impression, so it is always best to strive for perfection before sending it out. One of the key areas of construction is your objectives. Given the rough job market it is especially important to leave yourself open for new opportunities that your prior experience may qualify your for.
With a strong resume and cover letter you have a far better chance of standing out from the crowd and getting an interview. What many people do not realize however is that large companies often have a very simple weeding out process. Any required pre-application process is a simple way of telling whether or not potential employees follow directions well. Make certain that if there is any online application instructions or pre-interview instructions that they are followed to the letter. When applicants deviate from specific instructions they can be immediately limited. For these larger companies hiring is really a numbers game, which means whittling the number of applicants down to a workable group can mean strict attention given to tiny details.
The important thing to remember when apply to new job openings is that a delay in response is not necessarily a bad thing. Stay patient and try to invest your time in activities that can enhance your skills. See about getting your next degree online, or simply taking courses at the local community college to enhance your skills in your field. This can be added to your resume and shows that you have aggressively worked to both fill your time and improve upon yourself.
With a little diligence you will find the right job for you. In spite of the sink or swim nature of the job market however, responding to job vacancies is best done with as little haste as possible. From your resume to the interview it is important to make certain that your accuracy and attention to detail bring you to the forefront of hiring discussions.

3 Reasons to Proofread Your Resume First and 3 Specific Things to Look For

By Adnan Masood

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Are you looking for a new job? If so, you should be ready to embark on an online job search. When it comes to doing so, it is first recommended that you get your resume in order; write it, have it proofread, and be ready to send it immediately via the internet. As for that proofreading, here are some helpful tips for you.
Here are the three reasons why you should proofread your resume before using that resume to apply for jobs online.
Reason #1 - It doesn't take long to proofread or review a resume at all! While you are encouraged to actually read your resume and not skim or browse it, we are possibly talking about 15 minutes worth of your time. Considering what this well-written document can do for your job search, consider it well worth it!
Reason #2 - You might later realize that what you wrote down doesn't make sense at all. It is no secret that most of us get in a writing groove; we start, get on a roll, and don't stop until we are done. This is good, but if you wrote your resume this way you might later go back and realize that you didn't clearly explain a task you performed at your last job and so forth. This can have an impact on your job search.
Reason #3 - This has been mentioned before, but a good and well-written resume can have a huge impact on your job search success. For example, say you apply for a job as an office manager or secretary; some of your job tasks are going to include typing. If your resume is filled with typos and errors, you aren't going to look like an ideal candidate for the job as you might be unable to perform the most important task.
Here are three things you should look for when you proofread your resume.
Look For #1 - You should always proofread your resume and look for typos, spelling errors, and grammar errors. Two good ways to do this include typing your document in Microsoft Word, as you can benefit from the spell check. However, even Word's spelling and grammar checkers aren't 100% accurate, so you should also print off your resume and read a copy (put yourself in the shoes of the person reviewing that resume).
Look For #2 - When proofreading your resume, it is important to ask yourself "is anything missing?" In this aspect, you want to first ensure you have the basic information, which includes your job history, education, training, and so forth. Then, focus on each job; did you thoroughly describe your job duties? If you realize you left off anything important, now is the time to ad it.
Look For #3 - As previously stated, it is important to ensure that your resume makes sense. When proofreading this document, don't look at it as being yours. Instead, put yourself in the place of the hiring manager. Do the slang work terms or abbreviations you used make sense? Can you get a good picture from each job description or is more or less detail required?
So there you have it, you got some great free tips on proofreading your resume. Remember, once you have a well-written and proofread resume, you are ready to start your job search. Get out there and apply for jobs!

International Job Search

By Antoinette Tigar

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

In this tight job market, you sometimes have no option but to 'take it where you find it'. This article gives an overview of the global market for expatriate 'contract work' in developing countries, isolated and high-risk environments.
There are three main types of overseas work:
1. Fixed Term Contract as an Expatriate.
2. Contract or permanent, with the aim of becoming a citizen of that country.
3. Overseas Assignment (secondment or transfer) whilst employed by your home company.
Work Permits
Most countries are capping the number of foreign nationals allowed to work there, and changing rules for Points-based entry. Before spending hours on the internet applying for jobs, check what types of skills are in demand. There are specialist emigration agencies and law firms that can advise you on the permit or visa that will enable you to live and work in the country you're interested in. Many of these also have useful (free!) advice on their website.
What kinds of jobs are available?
There is a huge variety of jobs, especially in a good economic climate. The recent world market financial crisis has dampened this prospect but it will pick up again. Everything from technical (engineering, electrical, mechanics) to management (HR, finance, training) and security-related work.
PRO's: Why should I consider working overseas?
• It builds good experience which can help you to get a job when you return home.
• In most cases, it pays very well, always in US dollars.
CONS: What are the main negatives?
• Most jobs are in places where no-one wants to go - either very isolated, high-risk or 3rd world environments.
• It is difficult to start a new life and career without a good support network, e.g. family and friends. You need emotional and psychological resilience - the loneliness and homesickness may result in poor concentration, or depression.
• Long distances and poor infrastructure means that travel to and from home (for rotational leave) can be exhausting and frustrating.
• Cultural differences play a bigger role than you may expect. It is difficult to make friends.
• The cost of living can be high - although accommodation may be supplied by the employer, food and extras can be exorbitant.
Client Feedback
"I recently arrived in Ghana to start a new contact and did some sight-seeing in Accra (capital) this weekend. They have a Woolworths, Shoprite/Checkers, Game Store, Mr Price Clothing and good pharmacies but it is all very expensive. One box of Breakfast All Bran Flakes = USD 12.00!"
What kind of salary can I expect to earn?
In most cases, Expat contracts include accommodation, food and travel (to country of origin and back for rotational leave) on top of the salary. Salaries range from US$3,500.00 to US$15,000.00 - obviously depending on the position.
What are the main criteria for overseas applications?
1. A qualification from a recognised tertiary or training institution.
2. Excellent health - full medical checks are mandatory.
3. Clean criminal record - you need a Police Clearance Certificate.
4. References plays an important role...have them lined up!
5. Credit record verification will be done for most senior and financial positions.
Useful CV hints
- Your CV should be 100 % correct in terms of dates worked at companies.
- If you're a senior professional with a lot of detailed information for your CV, have two documents - a 2-page Resumé which is sent first, and a detailed version which can be sent on request if the recruiter wants to shortlist you.
- Ensure you have all the international dialling codes for your contact numbers, including your referees. For international calls to South Africa, this is: +27-31-5723193 (Durban). Also include e-mail addresses for referees.
- Include your passport number, Visa status (e.g. whether you have a work permit) and any other passports you hold, in the CV.

Safely Transition Into Your New Opportunity

By Curtis Valentine

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Hooray! Hope your new opportunity with, more money, new people, new location, and better benefits yes baby. Signing on to a new job can be stressful and exciting both at the same time. The word gets out to your current co-workers that you are leaving and the questions pile up. Your going to have to CYA (cover your ass) to successfully transition out of your current job without usage of friendly fire or enemy fire.
Giving the proper notice, when you accept your new offer-letter the new company usually once you to start within 2 weeks. If the new company wants you to start right away because of some training program you need to enroll into beware that your current job wants to download all the information in your head that is not already on paper. You know the projects that only you know the details. Could projects now be in jeopardy and if you leave early, your company sees this as you smacking them in the face (Ouch).
Write a resignation letter that explains in detail when your last day will be and how much you appreciate the learning experience you have encountered.
Emotions are everywhere! Your emotions, coworkers, vendors, security guards, even the janitor knows you by first name. Everyone fills you with feedback and asking tons of questions. Most of these feelings will be positive but some will be negative. Coworkers can be jealous, the old "Nothing Personal" but "I hate you for leaving before me, or can you take me with you, help."
Keep a level head because you do not want to burn any bridges just in case you current company opens up a position they should have had while you were there. Play the "Murphy's Law" game and expect the unexpected, again do not crap on your desk as you out-process. The environment that made you want to leave could turn for the better and the enticement to come back good is strong.
Prepare documents that will help your replacement. Clean out your desk with all your belongings with quickness, even if you have to stay late to do it. Too many things popup out of know where your last few days so get things done early. How many days will you need to take off before starting on your new job?
Turn in all items of value such as BlackBerry's, laptops, thump drives, and portable hard drives. Make sure to get a receipt. When you leave, you do not want any misconceptions that you may have taken something with you that needed to turn over to your replacement.
Your last check should not be a surprise to you. Did you receive any corporate training? Were you negative vacation and sick? If you received training, some companies prorate meaning you only owe based on the timeframe that has passed within one-year period. If you were negation vacation or sick, you had better believe it would affect your last check.
Thank-you-letter expresses your deepest appreciation for those who have helped you to become successful. You never know when a new opportunity might open up that makes you smile and you want to return to the same company you just left.
Exit interviews may not be mandatory, but whatever you do please do not trash your company, on the way out the door. Think about leaving on good terms. A good reference is worth it.
Will your manager counter offer to keep you around? Do you really have an option to return someday if your current situation just does not work out? Everyone has at least one nightmare transition story.
